USFS - Tongass National Forest Recreation Cabins
The Tongass National Forest is almost 17 million acres in size and is larger than the state of West Virginia. It occupies the "panhandle" or southeast portion of Alaska. There are about 150 cabins in the Tongass National Forest. They are located in scenic and often remote areas. Many of the cabins may be reached only by boat or airplane.
Alaska residents and visitors can use their major credit cards to make reservations for the popular public recreation cabins on the Tongass National Forest. Visitors can also make reservations via the internet at http://www.reserveusa.com. Reservations are on a first come, first served basis for individuals. Commercial use is prohibited.
