Black Bear Lake Cabin (C-01)

• Location: Mid Prince of Wales Island, 1,700 ft. elev.
• Access: Air: 50 miles from Ketchikan, 12 miles from Craig, flying weather must be good. Minimum flight time charged = 2 hrs. from Ketchikan.
• Unapproved Water Source: Lake.
• Wildlife: Sitka black-tailed deer, black bear.
• Fish: Rainbow trout.
• Seasonal Use: June through September.
• Topo Map: Craig C-3

Essowah Lake Cabin (C-02)

• Location: Southwest Dall Island, north side of Essowah Lake off of Essowah Harbor.
• Access: Air: 65 miles from Ketchikan, 50 miles from Craig. Minimum flight time charged = 2.9 hrs. from Ketchikan.
• Tide: Dangerous tide run at outlet of the lake.
• Unapproved Water Source: Lake.
• Wildlife: Sitka black-tailed deer, black bear.
• Fish: Cutthroat and rainbow trout Dolly Varden, and coho, pink, chum and sockeye salmon.
• Seasonal Use: May through October.
• Topo Map: Dixon Entrance D-3

Josephine Lake Cabin (C-03)

• Location: South of Prince of Wales Island, east of Hetta Inlet, 1,800 ft. elev.
• Access: Air: 38 miles from Ketchikan, 28 miles from Craig. Minimum flight time charged = 2 hrs. from Ketchikan.
• Unapproved Water Source: Lake.
• Wildlife: Sitka black-tailed deer. Black bears are present in the area.
• Fish: Few or no fish.
• Seasonal Use: June through September.
• Topo Map: Craig A-2

Kegan Cove Cabin (C-04) (special drawing from May-September)

• Location: Southern Prince of Wales Island on Moira Sound.
• Access: Air: 30 miles from Ketchikan, 51 miles from Craig. Minimum flight time charged = 1.6 hrs. from Ketchikan. Boat Access: 2.5 hrs. from Ketchikan.
• Tide: Difficult to access at low tide, anchor buoy near entrance of bay.
• Unapproved Water Source: Creek from Kegan Lake.
• Wildlife: Sitka black-tailed deer, black bear.
• Fish: Excellent rainbow trout fishing. Dolly Varden, and coho, pink, chum and sockeye salmon.
• Seasonal Use: Yearlong.

Kegan Creek Cabin (C-05) (special drawing from May-September)

• Location: Southern tip of Kegan Lake, Prince of Wales Island, 50 ft. elev.
• Access: Air: 30 miles from Ketchikan. Minimum flight time charged = 1.6 hrs.
• Unapproved Water Source: Creek.
• Wildlife: Sitka black-tailed deer, black bear.
• Fish: Cutthroat and rainbow trout, Dolly Varden.
• Seasonal Use: April through November.
• Topo Map: Craig A-1

Point Amargura Cabin (C-06)

• Location: South San Fernando Island, west Prince of Wales Island.
• Access: Air: 70 miles from Ketchikan, 8 miles from Craig. Minimum flight time charged = 3 hrs. from Ketchikan. May be accessed from Craig by skiff in approximately 20 minutes.
• Mooring Buoy: A buoy was installed near Point Amargura in 1995.
• Tide: Any.
• Unapproved Water Source: Creek.
• Wildlife: Sitka black-tailed deer, black bear.
• Fish: Excellent salmon sport fishing.
• Seasonal Use: Yearlong.
• Topo Map: Craig B-5

Trollers Cove Cabin (C-07)

• Location: East of central Prince of Wales Island in Kasaan Bay.
• Access: Air: 38 miles from Ketchikan, 22 miles from Craig. Boat: An anchor buoy is available.
• Unapproved Water Source: Creek.
• Wildlife: Sitka black-tailed deer, black bear.
• Fish: Cutthroat trout Dolly Varden, and coho, pink, chum and sockeye salmon.
• Seasonal Use: Yearlong.
• Topo Map: Craig B-1

The following are Adirondack Shelters (3-sided shelters; No reservations Accepted):

One Duck Shelter (C-20)

• Location: Central Island west of Twelve Mile Arm, 2,000 ft. elev.
• Access: Off Hydaburg Road, Trail: 1.5 miles (steep).
• Unapproved Water Source: Several small lakes.
• Wildlife: Sitka black-tailed deer, black bear.
• Fish: N.A.
• Seasonal Use: May through October.
• Topo Map: Craig B-3

Mooring Buoys

• Mooring buoys are located at Kegan Cove, Troller's Cove and near the Point Amargura cabin. More information on mooring buoys is available from the Craig Ranger District.
